Le 1er blog créé en 2008, par Bruno Fabriguès (Webmaster du site Cool Night) est la référence absolue de tous les bons albums californiens enregistrés entre 1976 et 1986. Ces 11 années sont le cœur et l'âme de cette musique qui avant 1976 n'était que de la Pop Californienne et dont le son a évolué cette année-là grâce à des albums tels qu'"HOTEL CALIFORNIA" des Eagles ou "SILK DEGREES" de Boz Scaggs.
5 conditions devaient être réunies pour qu'un album fasse partie de cette bible de la Westcoast:
1 - L'album devait être enregistré à Los Angeles ou en Californie (des exceptions rarissimes seront inclues),
2 - Le chanteur ou la plupart des membres du groupe devait être Américains (les artistes Japonais, Suédois etc... seront inclus dans une autre liste). Toutefois il y aura quelques exceptions quand l'album est un classique qui représente le style ou le son Californien !
3 - On devait retrouver certains musiciens des studios de L.A. (tels que Jeff Porcaro, Michael Landau, Steve Lukather, Dann Huff, Robbie Buchanan, Richard Page et tous ceux qui font le son 'Calif'),
4 - Le son de l'album devait être 'Westcoast' et non pas variétés, ni pop, ni soul. L'écoute de ces albums doit évoquer L.A. dans toute sa splendeur !
5 - L'album devait avoir un intérêt dans son ensemble et bien représenter l'année en question ou l'artiste (et non pas posséder un seul bon titre).
Cette bible, pour ces années, contient donc 95% de toute la production 'Westcoast' de ces années extraordinaires qui représentent parfaitement la 'Californian way of life '. Les 5% des albums ayant été mis de côté ont mal vieillis, même si la plupart possèdent des grosses pointures des studios de L.A. !

Depuis 2010, j'ai élargi cette bible avec la participation active de Jean Paul Ribes et de Florent Recica (Suède). La Bible de la Westcoast recense, outre les albums de 1976 à 1986, les plus grands groupes (Chicago, Doobie Brothers, Eagles, Toto...) sans omettre de revenir à la source de cette musique avec les Beach Boys, Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers, Buffalo Springfield... Le fil conducteur de cette bible est caractérisé par les musiciens de sessions réputés de Los Angeles (participations, albums solos). Par ailleurs, nous retrouvons des albums inconnus et sous-estimés que nous vous laissons découvrir. Avec cette bible, vous avez aussi la possibilité de retrouver la discographie de nos musiciens préférés. The First blog founded by Bruno Fabriguès (Cool Night webmaster) is the absolute reference of all the good Californian albums recorded between 1976 & 1986. These eleven years are heart and soul of this music which was before 1976 California Pop. This year (1976) the sound evolved thanks to albums such "HOTEL CALIFORNIA" by Eagles or "SILK DEGREES" by Boz Scaggs.
Five conditions had to be combined fo an album to take place in the Bible of The Westcoast Music:
1 - The album must have been recorded in L.A or in California (a few rare exceptions will be allowed when the album is considered a 'classic'),
2 - The main singer or most of the band must be Americans (Japanese , Swedish artists & other foreign singers will be part of another list). Once again there will be a few exceptions to this rule when the album is recognised as essential !
3 - Most of the musicians playing on the album must be from L.A. and a talented studio player like Jeff Porcaro, Michael Landau, Steve Lukather, Dann Huff, Robbie Buchanan, Richard Page among many others...
4 - The album must have a typical Westcoast sound and reminds us of the L.A. way of life ! Soul, Funk music or middle of the road (M.O.R) won't be included in the Definitive Westcoast Bible even if some great musicians from L.A. plays in the album ! But Christian rock will !
5 - Most of the songs must be of the highest quality possible. The album must not only have one or two good songs, which would represent quite badly the Westcoast style we love so much !
During all These years, the Bible contained 95% of the 'Westcoast' production of these extraordinary times which are the perfectly 'Californian Way of Life'. The remaining 5% had been put aside even though there were L.A. studios high names.

Since 2010, I expanded this Bible with Jean Paul Ribes's active participation and Florent Recica's help (Sweden). Now 'The Bible of Westcoast Music', identifies from 1976 to 1986 the major bands (Chicago, Doobie Brothers, Eagles, Toto...) without omitting the brilliant and unforgettable sources as Beach Boys, Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers, Buffalo Springfield and so many more… This "Bible" mainline is L.A. renowned session musicians (solo projects and participations). Besides, we let you discover our discoveries and all the unknown, underestimated and sometimes underrated fantastic musicians and albums. You will find there your favorite musician discography.
